Our client is a leading provider of Centralized Data Management (CDM) solutions for financial services firms, and is seeking a Business Analyst to assist with aligning their product technology with customer business strategies and requirements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the collection, analysis, design and documentation of business and functional requirements.

Responsibilities:

 *         Actively advise the customer’s business group during different phases of the project cycle (Plan of Approach, Business requirements gathering, etc), using industry standards and best practices.

*          Analyze customer’s data landscape and map attributes to the product data models or extend appropriately the object models.

*          Turn customer’s project requirements into functional requirements.

*          Determine requirements for exception workflows and validation functions.

*          Provide support for the development of test cases for system testing by preparing acceptance test plans.

*          Act as a liaison between the customer’s business group and our client to ensure the product suite is used according to their best practices.

*          Up to 40% travel

Qualifications include:

*          Bachelor’s degree required

*          A strong affinity with technology is a must and needs to be apparent from candidates work history.

*          At least 3 years experience in a similar position or 3 years experience as a junior financial analyst, research assistant or related occupation

*          Experience with financial data vendor feeds (contents and workings). Knowledge of the Bloomberg® Datalicense product is required. Knowledge of the Thomson Reuters Datascope and IDC feed products is a plus

*          Must have experience with data management projects

*          Overall Knowledge of trading, back office, risk systems required with specific knowledge of one of the aforementioned systems

*          In-depth knowledge of financial instruments, such as equities, bonds (industry standards, numbering systems, etc.)

*          Good understanding of corporate entity and corporate actions data and their value.

*          In-depth knowledge of types of financial institutions and the way their operations work.

*          Understanding of Relational Data model representations of financial data

*          Good affinity with data modelling (relational models, not analytical models)

*          Good understanding of MS Excel and MS Word.

*          Basic SQL skills a plus
