Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll/HR Associate to process their payroll, support the benefits function and assist the HR department. The ideal candidate will have five or more years of full-cycle payroll processing experience in a medium to large office in Ceridian system. Experience with multi-state taxation is a plus.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Process the payroll, including the computation and distribution of payroll, the payment of employment taxes and the distribution of Form W-2’s; process unemployment insurance claims. Maintain our client’s employee payroll file. Assist with the administration of our client’s qualified plans (Retirement & 401k) Assist with the administration of our client’s non-qualified plans. Assist with the administration of the Employee Assistance Plan.
Ensure our client’s compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and applicable state and local laws and regulations. Compile information for purpose of non-discrimination testing.
Prepare and approve journal entries for cost allocations for benefits and payroll related activities. Reconcile general ledger accounts for payroll expenses. Process Incentive Compensation Plan payments at the end of plan year.
Respond to employees’ inquiries on various benefit plans and understand how these plans impact payroll.
Respond to employment verification requests.
Prepare certain account invoices and general ledgers, obtain approval signatures, make photocopies, forward originals to Accounts Payable; maintain invoice files.
Create spreadsheets and reports for various projects.
Serve as primary backup to the payroll processing.
Skills—
Ability to process accurate payrolls on a consistent basis.
Strong attention to detail and understanding of inter-relationships of changes in payroll entries to other areas in payroll.
Proficient in Excel and Word.
Detail oriented, strong communication skills, organizational skills, analytical and research skills

Education—

Answering general queries related to payroll, benefits, HRIS and policies and procedures

Supporting immigration processes
Administration of the transit benefit

Maintain and update HRIS
Additional operational and administrative duties related to responsibilities
Ad hoc projects, as necessary
Qualifications:
BA required
3 to 5 years of HR experience
Financial services preferred
Workday experience a plus
WageWorks experience a plus
Must have strong execution skills and attention to detail
Able to deliver effective results and meet deadlines
Must be reliable, responsible and able to handle highly confidential information with discretion
Effective in both an individual capacity as well as in a global team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
